For my learning inventory styles
test I am an auditory, visual learner. I learn best by hearing and seeing
things when they are taught. Auditory learners learn best when they tape a
lecture. I should take notes and listen to the lecture and go back to the taped
lecture to fill in any gaps in the notes. Sitting close to the speaker or the
teacher who is lecturing is something that will benefit my style of learning.
After reading something I should summarize it and recite it out loud to myself.
And repeat this until I have learned the material. I fully agree with my
results of this test. I have found that sitting up close to the speaker and
taking notes helps. But the most effective thing I have learned about my style
of learning is taping or recording a lecture. This really has helped me in my
main lecture style courses at UA. Listening to the lectures again while
studying has helped me hear the information two or more times and memorize it.
For
my cognitive style test I scored as a sensorial and rational. A sensorial
person likes to receive information from the five senses. They mentally live in
the present and uses common sense in thinking things over. This type of learner
recalls information in full detail from the past. They like clear information.
Thinking and feeling are the judging functions. This is the process of how
someone processes the information. I would agree with this style as well. I
think I am very much of the type of person who wants concrete information and
for it to be clear and non-confusing. I am always thinking about future things,
but always living in the present time. The biggest thing that stuck out to me
was how much I can recall past events in full detail. I am very good at doing
things like this. I can see a place one time and I could tell you how to get
back to that one place without any trouble.
http://www.personal.psu.edu/bxb11/LSI/LSI.htm#ShowResuls Applying these learning styles into
my classroom or learning right now will be a natural thing to me. I will cater
to all learning styles because, of course, I will most likely have all learning
styles present in my classroom. I think having each learning style present in
my classroom will allow me to open my eyes to how different and diverse each
student is.
